Gaetano and Kim during their wedding at Torre Garbonogara, Sicily — wedding photography by Alex Cinisi

Gaetano & Kim

An Intimate Celebration in the Sicilian Countryside

Torre Garbonogara, Palermo · June 29, 2022 · Wedding

There is a particular stillness to Sant'Elia in the early hours of a wedding day. The cobblestones hold the warmth of the night before, the light comes sideways through the narrow streets, and the village seems to hold its breath — as if it already knows what is about to unfold within it. It was here that Gaetano and Kim began their day, in the place that has always known his name.

Gaetano is Sicilian, rooted in this land in the way only those born to it can be. Kim arrived from somewhere farther, drawn not just by him but by the particular quality of life that surrounds him — the slow rhythms, the stone walls, the way food and family occupy the same sentence. Their wedding was not designed around a theme. It grew outward from who they are.

The ceremony took place in Sant'Elia, a small village in the hills above Palermo where time moves differently. Here, the streets narrow to the width of a single embrace and the architecture speaks in centuries rather than decades. Gaetano and Kim exchanged their vows in this light — ancient, golden, unhurried — and it suited thementirely.
The reception moved to Torre Garbonogara, a property of old stone and open gardens where the Sicilian countryside opens up toward the horizon. The gardens held long tables, flowers that echoed the surrounding landscape, and the particular warmth of a group of people genuinely glad to be together. The evening unfolded without urgency — courses arrived, toasts were made, the light faded slowly into something softer and the garden filled with the kind of laughter that doesn't need translation.

What the camera records on a day like this is not the decoration or the sequence of events — it is the space between moments. The glance before the vow. The quiet at the edge of the dance floor. The way two people look when they forget they are being watched. These are the images that last.

Torre Garbonogara gave Gaetano and Kim's day its shape. Sant'Elia gave it its soul. Together, they made a wedding that felt entirely, unmistakably Sicilian — and entirely, unmistakably theirs.
